INSARAG is organized into three Regional Groups:
- Asia-Pacific
- Africa / Europe / Middle East (AEME)
- Americas
Roles and Responsibilities
Each Regional Group convenes annually to:
- Strengthen regional Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) preparedness and response.
- Implement the strategic direction and policies set by the INSARAG Steering Group.
- Consolidate and submit relevant national information to the Steering Group.
- Provide a forum for discussion on USAR-related issues, regional cooperation, and capacity building.
Outcomes
A key product of these meetings is the annual regional work plan, which typically addresses:
- Capacity development initiatives
- Training and exercises
- Integrated approaches to disaster response
Leadership
Each Regional Group elects at least one Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson annually. These leaders represent their regions on the INSARAG Steering Group, ensuring regional perspectives are incorporated into global decision-making.
Participation
Regional Groups encourage the active involvement of all countries within their respective regions. They also host events such as exercises, workshops, and technical meetings, details of which are available on each region’s dedicated page.
