The massive earthquake in Türkiye on 6 February 2023 triggered the largest response in INSARAG’s 30-year history. Within hours, USAR teams worldwide mobilized following the fastest call for international assistance ever made. Approximately 5,000 rescuers across 90 teams worked intensively during the lifesaving phase, saving 300 lives, with some teams remaining longer to support recovery efforts.
This unprecedented event provided a critical opportunity to review the INSARAG Guidelines, Handbooks, Team Training, and compliance.
